Knots and Ties

First up, a look at the maps we've been adding our various journeys to. These will be very useful references for the summative assessments we are working on at the moment: transport mobiles, biggest to smallest, continents to neighborhoods diagram and written/recorded park directions.

A new skill we started practicing in the last week, which is essential for completing our mobiles, is tying knots:


We have finally visisted all of the parks within walking distance of the school and the kids are prety certain of their various merits and requirements (for example; if it might rain, we cant go to one thats far away, even if we take our umbrellas):


One of our 'Taking Action' activities will be to plan and go on a joint picnic expedition with our new buddies in grade 6. This week they shared with us their research into the spread of culture between countries. Our class really enjoyed seeing some new countries and trying things like pasta and monopoly:
