LITERACY WEEK (Sept. 7 - 11) Week 3

LITERACY WEEK
     (Sept. 7 - 11)

A long overdue post. I know it's been a while and charge me guilty for not posting nor updating the blog, got caught up with work. My apologies for that.

Meanwhile, will try to catch up and will be posting more in the coming days.

For now, let me take you back to our Literacy Week and my first week as the new Homeroom Teacher.

Literacy Week

We celebrated Literacy Week to promote awareness of the importance of reading and writing skill development during the early school years.

Doing learning activity with children and taking time to read is crucial to a child's development as it improves literacy skills dramatically.

We had lots of fun activities and one of the activities we did was bookmark making.

Students cut and decorate their own bookmarks.

Parent Story Time

We had volunteer parents who took time and read a book to the students in any language.

Book Cover (Door)

We decorated our classroom door as a book cover.

Poem in your Pocket

Students came to school with a poem in their pockets and read it in front of the class.

Book Face Competition

The students' creativity (and the parents) has been tested. The students took a photo as part of a book page. Congratulations to our dear Ewan who won first prize in the said competition.

Costume

We capped off the week with a fashion where students dressed as their favorite character from a book.

Music Lesson

Inquiry Time (Where We Are In Place and Time)

How We Make Journeys:
Students started sharing ideas on how to make journeys. We started on how we make journeys from home to school.

WEEK TWO (AUGUST 24-28)

Hello everyone!

Our second week came to pass very quickly. The kids got used to our new routines. As you can guess, we couldn't go to the park because of the hot weather which led to kids to be hyper active. We did lots of running and dancing to burn their energy but nothing can replace a good outdoor time.

Kids enjoyed playing in different stations. We have been  trying hard to improve our fine and gross motor skills.

We practiced  basic tracing to have decent letter formation in the following weeks.

The kids enjoyed in Japanese lesson with Miss Yuki and Miss Sayuri.

We ran in the gym and practiced running race for sports day.  We crawled around cones.

When the kids get crazy or so tired, We have put some relaxing songs and lying on the floor.

Kids laughing at the faces they made. They tried placing the mouth, nose, eyes, and ears.

The student traced their names. We did many different activities to let them recognize the letters of their names.

We had music class with Ms. Nao and the everybody was happy to dance and sing with her.

The kids practiced ABC in different ways. I wrote a letter on the board then kids matched the letters one by one.
I spread all the letters across the gym and called out certain ones, then kids tried to find those.
I put the white paper on the floor and the kids wrote the letters I said. I helped them when they needed.

We practiced shapes and numbers with different activities. The kids participated well.

We traced some basic shapes. They were surprised to see the resemblance between their drawing and the actual shapes :)

Have a good weekend!
