LITERACY WEEK
(Sept. 7 - 11)
A long overdue post. I know it's been a while and charge me guilty for not posting nor updating the blog, got caught up with work. My apologies for that.
Meanwhile, will try to catch up and will be posting more in the coming days.
For now, let me take you back to our Literacy Week and my first week as the new Homeroom Teacher.
Literacy Week
We celebrated Literacy Week to promote awareness of the importance of reading and writing skill development during the early school years.
Doing learning activity with children and taking time to read is crucial to a child's development as it improves literacy skills dramatically.
We had lots of fun activities and one of the activities we did was bookmark making.
Students cut and decorate their own bookmarks.
Parent Story Time
We had volunteer parents who took time and read a book to the students in any language.
Book Cover (Door)
We decorated our classroom door as a book cover.
Poem in your Pocket
Students came to school with a poem in their pockets and read it in front of the class.
Costume
We capped off the week with a fashion where students dressed as their favorite character from a book.
Letter Tracing
We started tracing and coloring to strengthen their fine motor skills.
Our music lesson as usual with Ms. Nao.
How We Make Journeys:
Students started sharing ideas on how to make journeys. We started on how we make journeys from home to school.
