The First ELC Assembly

Last week we had our first Early Learning Center assembly! Our class got to choose the first song for everyone to sing together and we decided on 'Yellow Submarine'by the Beatles. We painted and prepared posters with the lyrics to give to all of the other classes to help them practice.
Yuma also, very bravely, took the opportunity to do her self introduction in front of everyone (sorry about the sound; she probably neded a microphone)
As we race towards the end of the term and the end of our Who We Are unit, a big focus will be finalizing our self introductions and getting them on video for our summative assessment. We already know how we will take action with them; we are planning to send them to another IB school in New Zealand. Hopefully we can get to know them a little and have some video chats with them during our next unit: Where We Are In Time And Place.

Japanese Culture Festival

This week, thanks to the hard work of some teachers and parent volunteers (including several of the parents from our own class: Thank you all very much), we were able to have a special Japanese Culture Festival in the gym on Friday.

We started the morning off by eating nagashi somen:

After that we went to the park and showed off our amazing yukata and jinbei. Sorry if we got them a bit dirty.
In the afternoon we also had a chance to play some festival games, such as ring toss, goldfish scooping, and coin sinking. There was also face-painting and origami; it was lots of fun:

Tsuyu

Being at school during the rainy season can be hard; the weather effects all the kids moods quiet strongly and when the whole school is stuck inside, some times we cant go the park or use the gym.

But, when we can go to the park, it's so much fun jumping in muddy puddles, just like Peppa Pig! Making sand castles and other things in the sandpit is also a lot easier when the sand is wet and some early cicadas are emerging to be poked at with leaves too.

Tsuyu has also been a great chance to learn about Tanabata and make crafts like Teru teru bozu in Andy's Japanese lessons.

WEEK TWO (AUGUST 24-28) Hello everyone!  Our second week came to pass very quickly . The kids got used to our new routines. As you can guess...
