Going Further

Over the last week we have extended our explorations of the parks in Horie out to Minami Horie (which has a fantastic jungle gym and good opportunities to spy on the highschool kids next door) and Shinmachi Minami park (which doesnt have a lot of equipment, but can be a fun place to practice balancing on the edges). We have started adding pictures of landmarks and stickers to our map; soon we will be ready to write out directions!

We have been doing some great writing practice in preparation for this by labeling the houses we designed with the names of the shapes and the different rooms:

We have been adding some of our journeys to our maps of Japan and the world, though we still have lots more to go (thank you all for sending in your holiday photos). We have also learned about continents and glued them onto the globes we have been making:

One of the things we added to our world map was my journey from New Zealand to Japan. We practiced New Zealand's national dance, the Haka, with the kids from Kinder A and B, which was a bit embarrassing for me as I haven't done one in 15 years, but the kids had fun.

WEEK TWO (AUGUST 24-28) Hello everyone!  Our second week came to pass very quickly . The kids got used to our new routines. As you can guess...
