Hi Everyone!
It was a great first week. The kids came back with full of energy. Their eyes were looking for Mr. Ben, but luckily they already knew each other so we could have a relatively smooth transition. We experienced different activities and centers during the past week. Ms. Yuki, Mr. Irsad, and Ms. Sayuri were there to help us. It is great to have such reliable people around.
First of all, I want to talk about the morning centers, the kids choose the centers for the morning. They were free to play with anything they liked. Most of the students were happy to use our new materials. Some of the students would like to play longer, but I gave them six or seven minutes, so they get to try everything every center.
Ms. Sayuri made very cool center materials for us. Thank you, Ms. Sayuri!
We had a ten-minute cool-down time when they got hyper, and one of our students fall asleep :)
After snack time, we had some reading time. I was impressed to see them when they were looking at the books and turning pages. Also, Mr. Irsad was practicing letters with students during that time.
As you know, the weather was too hot to go to the park. But we had a really good time at the Gym. First 25-30 minutes, we did some obstacle course, kicked soccer balls, ran, threw the ball into halo hoops, etc. Then they had free playtime.
During math time, we worked on numbers and patterns (abab). Kids cut the numbers 1-5 and glue them on caterpillars.
We had a fun activity of blowing caterpillars with kids. Whoever dropped the caterpillar off the age of the table, was the winner. (After every group, we sanitized the table.)
We had Japanese lesson with Ms. Sayuri and Ms. Yuki. The students were very engaged the whole time.
You can find some of the works we did last in week on our wall outside the classroom!
